Helen Clay Frick (1888-1984), daughter of industrialist and art collector Henry Clay Frick, founded the Frick Art Reference Library in 1920 and served as its director until 1983. Edmund Norwood Bacon was born May 2, 1910 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He graduated from Cornell University in 1932 with a Bachelor of Architecture degree and worked as an architectural designer in Shanghai, China under Henry Killam Murphy in 1934. In 1935 he returned to Philadelphia to work with W. Pope Barney. He attended Cranbrook Academy of Art in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan in 1936, and worked in Michigan 1937-1939 as Superintendent of City Planning for the city of Flint. From 1940 to 1943...
