Henri Meilhac was a French dramatist, who often collaborated with Ludovic Halévy. From the guide to the Henri Meilhac plays, undated., (Houghton Library, Harvard College Library, Harvard University) This inscription is almost certainly by the French writer Henri Meilhac (1831-1897), who co-wrote the libretti for a number of operas and operettas, including Bizet's Carmen; Massenet's Manon; and Offenbach's La Périchole, La vie Parisienne and La belle Hélène.
