Consists of 2 xerox copies of Miss Schelling's obituary from the New York Times, dated 10 August 1950; and a xerox copy of her reminiscences about Robert Barrett Browning and his American wife Fannie Coddington Browning, revised and attested by Evelyn Berdahl on 11 May 1966. The reminiscences were originally dictated to a secretary in 1940. Robert Barrett Browning was the son of Robert Browning and Elizabeth Barrett Browning.

Julia E. Schelling was a writer and lecturer on music and was particularly known as an expert on the operas of Wagner. She was the sister of Felix E. Schelling, Shakespearian scholar and founder of the English Department at the University of Pennsylvania; and of Ernest H. Schelling, American pianist and composer. She died in 1950 at the age of 89.
