Consists of a letter of 21 February 1900, Tokyo, from Lafcadio Hearn to the publishing firm Little, Brown and Company; on the reverse is a mounted sketch of Hearn in Japanese dress, dated 1897. Also includes a folder of clippings relating to the life and work of Lafcadio Hearn. Among them are a review of Hearn's book Editorials, ed. by Charles Woodward Hutson (Boston: Houghton Mifflin Company, 1926); a review of his son Kazuo Koizumi's book Father and I (Boston: Houghton Mifflin Company, 1935); and an article about Hearn by John Erskine.
