In 1855 he became a writer on the staff of Putnam's, then drama critic for Albion, and later an editor at the New York tribune and the New York world. After 1883, he lived mostly abroad, writing for various English and American publications. He was the author of poems, plays, and a biography of George Brinton McClellan in 1864. ...
