Der Abend im Posthause : Lustspiel in 5 Aufzügen, n.d.

Handwritten materials related to rehearsal and performance of the play, including two versions of a scenario (oversized, see folder 715); notes on set design and props; notes on costume; and 9 role books. The materials are accompanied by a paper sleeve that apparently was used to hold them together; it is labeled with the title of the play and secured with a red wax seal. The reverse of the sleeve bears a fragment of writing that may provide a clue to the provenance; included are the words "Grafen" and "Perutz" ("Perutz" might possibly refer to the locality in Bohemia known in Czech as Peruc and in German as Perutz). All of the materials likely date from before 1850. The role books are for the following parts: Graf Nolbeck; Wilhelm von Nolbeck; Rollman; Louise; Emmeline; Von Kork; Samuel; Paul, Bedienter; and Niklas, Kutscher. According to the sheet with notes on costume, the play has a tenth character, Oberland Marschal, the father of Emmeline. The sheet bearing the notes on set and props also contains comparable notes for another play, Der Gefangene, by August von Kotzebue (see folder 85). The collection's holdings of theater newspapers and playbills, which date from a later period, contain no references to either of these plays.
