Matthew Thornton (March 3, 1714 – June 24, 1803) was an Irish-born Founding Father of the United States who signed the United States Declaration of Independence as a representative of New Hampshire. Born in Ireland, Thornton's family immigrated to North America in 1716, first settling in Wiscasset, Maine before moving to Worcester, Massachusetts.
