The play was first published in 1821. The file contains 6 handwritten role books (actors' scripts), for the what appears to be the complete character list: Seraphina; Anna; Moritz; Wilhelmine Flohrberg; Madam Stern; and Babeckan, eine Zigeunerin. The role books are acccompanied by a paper sleeve that originally held them together, on which the author's last name and the title of the play have been noted. The sleeve is secured with a red wax seal that bears a relatively clear impression of a design that includes the torso of an animal (or mythical creature) and what might be a lyre. The materials likely date from before 1850. (The collection's holdings of theater newspapers and playbills contain no reference to this play.)
