Correspondence to Franz Werfel and Adolf Klarmann, 1941-1964.

Reflects that Urzidil and Werfel read each other's works. The first item was written just after Urzidil's arrival in New York and recounts his life and professional activities since his emigration. In 1 letter Urzidil writes mostly on behalf of Rudolf Fuchs, who was editing a German publication (Almanach) for the Czech government-in-exile in London, with the theme of German-Czech interrelationships, and hoped to solicit a contribution from Werfel. In a communication to Klarmann, Urzidil gives information about Gertrud Spirk and Alice Rühle-Gerstel, and their relationships to Werfel. Included is a copy of an essay by Urzidil, "Café Arco," published in the Prager Tageblatt in 1925.
