Born in Vienna, Kathe Berl was an artist known for her work in enamel; she was a friend of Alma Mahler. In 1938 Berl emigrated to Great Britain, and in 1939 to New York. In 1946 she married Fritz Littauer; the wedding apparently took place in Tel Aviv. She was a friend of Julius Ebenstein, also an émigré from Austria, who had founded the Palestine Mozarteum, a society dedicated to the promotion of Mozart's music in Palestine.
