Correspondence with Franz Werfel and Adolf Klarmann, 1926, 1970-1971.

The correspondence consists of 2 letters from Werfel to Freud (copies), dated 1926, as well as correspondence addressed to Adolf Klarmann, dated 1970 to 1971, pertaining to Werfel's letters of 1926. Werfel's letters to Freud reflect an exchange the two were having about Werfel's play, Paulus unter den Juden, and about Werfel's relationship to religion in general. Eisler provided to Adolf Klarmann copies of Werfel's letters from the Freud archive; Urban requested from Klarmann information about Werfel's correspondence with Freud and, subsequently, permission to reprint Werfel's letters of 1926 in a volume Urban was co-editing, for S. Fischer Verlag, on the reception of psychoanalysis.
