Photograph album : of India-Burma Theater, 1944-1945.

Kept by United States Army officer serving in the India-Burma Theater in the last years of World War II. The unidentifed officer was part of the Engineer Corps, headquartered in Delhi but later moved to Calcutta. One of the main responsibilities of this unit--working with British forces--was building the India-Burma-China Road between India and China's Yunnan Province. The album includes at least 50 photographs documenting the construction of the road, including 22 photographs taken by the U.S. Army Signal Corps. Other images include landscape shots along the Road in Yunnan Province, street scenes in Delhi and Calcutta, as well as unnamed spots in the Indian foothills and places in Burma.
