Morocco-bound volume of letters to Childs and other materials associated with Arthur Penrhyn Stanley, dean of Westminster Abbey, focusing on a stained glass window of George Herbert and William Cowper given to the Abbey by Childs; Stanley's visit to the United States in 1878; the death of Stanley in 1881; and Childs's contribution to a posthumous tribute to Stanley, organized by Phillips Brooks. Contents include two photographs of Stanley and one of Brooks; nine letters to Childs, including one from James Macaulay, one from Stanley, and four from Brooks; and printed clippings and pamphlets concerning the window and Stanley's death.

George W. Childs (1829-1894) was the founder and editor of the Philadelphia Public Ledger and a noted philanthropist. Born in Baltimore, he moved to Philadelphia to work for a bookseller at age fourteen and soon went into business for himself at the age of eighteen.
