In a memorial program presented on BBC Radio 3, film composer Herrmann discusses Stokowski's transcription of Bach, Stokowski's sound, Stokowski in rehearsal, his commitment to contemporary music, and his glamor. Amis discusses how Stokowski enlarged the symphonic repertoire and gives biographical details. Marriner, who played violin under Stokowski in London, discusses Stokowski's approach to rehearsals, his wide spectrum of dynamics, free bowing, and conducting without a baton. There are also excerpts from an interview of Stokowski in the 1960s.
