Smith discusses the establishment of the Stokowski competition for young conductors, in which he was a judge; the Philadelphia Orchestra concerts he attended while growing up; seeing Fantasia as a child; Stokowski's return to conduct in Philadelphia after 19 years; and Stokowski's conducting of a concert while the orchestra was on strike. He mentions Esther Klein, Ward Marston, Carl Torello, Leonard Mogill, Ormandy, Toscanini, and Koussevitzky.
