Papers, 1703-1977.

Papers include correspondence, diaries, deeds, wills, bonds, account books, legal papers, farm records, school and church records, and photographs. There are handwritten court cases of Justice Selah Brewster Strong (1792-1872) of the New York State Supreme Court; account books, 1795-1850, of Thomas Strong; correspondence with the U.S. Weather Bureau and weather records kept by Selah Brewster Strong (1841-1931); and diaries of Cornelia Theodosia Strong. Other Strong family members represented include Selah Brewster Strong (1737-1815), Kate Wheeler Strong, Elizabeth D. Strong, and members of the Wheeler family, with genealogies of the Strong, Udall, and Smith families. Church records are mostly from Presbyterian churches, including the Setauket Presbyterian Church and the Fourth Avenue Presbyterian Church, Manhattan, with a few letters from missionaries in Korea and elsewhere. Also, daybooks of Dr. Joel Griffing, 1749-1818, and papers of Thomas S. Griffing, who were related to the Strong family.

From 1947 until 1970, the official observations of weather in Boulder were made under the direction of the Boulder fire chief, at the central fire station. The Boulder Fire Department also maintained a weather station at the South Side Fire Station starting in July 1958. Selah Brewster Strong (May 1, 1792 – November 29, 1872) was born on May 1, 1792 in Brookhaven, New York. He graduated from Yale College in 1811. He studied law, was admitted to the bar in 1814, and commenced practice in New York City. On August 14, 1823, he married Cornelia Udall.
