Subjects include fire department, houses, streets, churches, schools, parades, Hudson River scenes, businesses, house interiors, and local events. Series of portraits of school trustees and teachers, ca. 1870-1920. Series of photographs of historic houses in Nyack from an exhibit at the Edward Hopper House, ca. 1984. Miscellaneous photographs, 1876-1900, of floods, the 1888 blizzard, businesses, schools, buildings, and the waterfront in Nyack, and of the Nyack Library centennial events in 1979.

Edward Hopper (July 22, 1882 – May 15, 1967) was an American realist painter and printmaker. While he is widely known for his oil paintings, he was equally proficient as a watercolorist and printmaker in etching. Hopper created subdued drama out of commonplace subjects 'layered with a poetic meaning', inviting narrative interpretations. He was praised for "complete verity" in the America he portrayed.
