C. Embree Rockwell collection, 1774-1972.

Family correspondence of Charles E. Lawrence, Arthur B. Lawrence, and Marcia Lawrence Rockwell (Mrs. Verne Rockwell), ca. 1900-1972, and other Smith, Arthur, and Lawrence family correspondence, 1866-1908. Correspondents include Major Ebenezer Smith, E.A. Fairchild, Julia Strong Lawrence, Mary E. Moore, Elizabeth T. Lawrence, Helen Underhill, L. Raymond, R.B. Smith, and Frank Jarvis. Papers of Col. Verne LaSalle Rockwell (1878-1961) include military papers covering his career as a cavalry officer in the U.S. Army from his appointment to West Point, 1895, until his retirement, 1922; also, papers of Col. Rockwell as executor for the estates of Lucy Slade Blydenburgh and Morgan Brower Blydenburgh, 1950-1952, including the will of Morgan Blydenburgh, 1945. Records pertaining to the Arthur-Rockwell House in the Village of the Branch include letters, bills, deeds, maps, and surveys, 1849-1954. Also, unidentified account books, 1780s and 1790s, deeds and land agreements involving Caleb Smith and George Smith, 1783, and Isaac Smith, 1878; deed for the Smithtown and Port Jefferson Railroad to acquire title to the land of Phebe T. Lawrence and others, 1871; a photograph album of the Arthur family, 1860s; and miscellaneous photographs of the town of Smithtown, and of the Arthur, Lawrence, Smith, and Strong families.
