Typescript memoirs of Lossing's childhood in eastern Dutchess County, ca. 1934. Subjects include hired domestic workers, excursions, the family home, trips to New York City, farm help, peddlers, animals, colored help and colored neighbors, the blizzard of 1888, Quaker meetinghouses, and his father Benson J. Lossing. Other items include his map of his childhood rural neighborhood; a letter of inquiry to Harper's concerning publication of his memoirs, 1941; letters received from his sister Miriam, his niece Margaret Johnson, and others, 1927-1946; other manuscripts, notes, and sketches; and correspondence with the Berkeley Public Library (Calif.) concerning Thomas S. Lossing in that city's directories, 1979.
