Extensive records of Theatre Genesis encompass business files including material about Actors' Equity Association; awards, bylaws and minutes; Creative Arts for Alienated Youth Project which viewed "social work with theatre as a tool," 1967-1968; correspondence, and theater information and descriptions; listing of plays produced; budget information; minutes of theater and workshop meetings; and partial listing of rejected plays, 1964-1968. Also, media coverage consisting of articles pertaining to Theater Genesis, Genesis plays and playwrights, and Off-Off Broadway theater. In addition, scripts primarily of plays produced by Theatre Genesis, some unproduced, production photographs, and program materials for produced plays. Also, general files containing material on Theatre Genesis workshop and concert performances. Video tape of Murray Mednick's ARE YOU LOOKIN'; and tape recording of Mednick's THE BOX and Tom Sankey's OUT OF TOWN TRAFFIC. Some of the more prominent playwrights whose works were produced by Theatre Genesis are Sam Shepard, Murray Mednick, Tom Sankey, Michael McClure, Maria Irene Fornes, and Megan Terry.
