Audio and video tapes and records, [ca. 1930-1985]

Consists of television programs from the inception of television in 1948 to the present, and ca. 100 radio programs, 1930 to the present, all of which concern Jewish culture and history. They were created by the major U.S. networks including CBS, NBC, ABC, and PBS, and independent, foreign, and other producers. Types of programming represented include news and public affairs shows; prime-time television dramas and entertainment (including comedy) series and specials; religious programs; arts programs; and some television commercials. Of note are the complete video tape record of the trial of Adolf Eichmann; the 1950s situation comedy, "The Goldbergs"; NBC's "Eternal Light", a religious series; radio programs in Yiddish; and many interviews with Jewish figures. Included are Golda Meir, David Ben-Gurion, Elie Wiesel, Marc Chagall, Sam Levenson, Giora Feidman, Sol Linowitz, Irving Howe, Isaac Bashevis Singer, and others. Also included are some transcripts including that of the Eichmann trial, clippings of reviews, 2,000 press releases, and other articles concerning the programs.
