Journals, account books, and record books of individuals and businesses in Brewster and vicinity including journal of daily events in New York City and Brewster kept by Charles F. Richards, 1881-1912; daybooks of Warren S. Paddock, feed and grain dealer in Brewster, 1893-1898; account book of Thomas Foster, 1819-1830; minutes of the Putnam County Trust Company, 1916-1920; and account books from general stores, auto repairs, and other local businesses, 1862-ca. 1920. Public records from the Town of Southeast include record book of arrests and court costs, 1913-1914; Supervisor's account book, 1899-1912, with enclosed bills and receipts; village census returns, 1898-1906; assessment rolls, 1883-1913; Justice of the Peace docket book, 1898; and minutes of School District No. 5, 1868-1906. Also, letter book of Capt. Frank Wells, 13th Connecticut Volunteers, written from Army headquarters in Washington, Ga., 1865, largely pertaining to complaints from Negro women of mistreatment.
