Photographs from the life travels of Robert Cushman Murphy (1887-1923) excluding the seven larger expeditions with took place from 1910 to 1970. Views primarily of birds, but also of lands, peoples, and animals. Includes field work with others including Jesse Metcalf, Henry Craig, Fleming, Arthur S. Vernay, and William H. Phelps in North and South America (guano industry), Europe, Ireland, and Africa. Personal collection of photographs includes images loaned by the United States Fish Commission and others. Many bird illustrations by Francis Lee Jaques, many family portraits, maps, and illustrations. Some undated images are grouped by geographic location for accessibility.
