Field photographs, 1913-1914.

Photographs documenting the expedition to South America. Roosevelt invited two Museum scientists, Leo E. Miller and George K. Cherrie, to participate in the expedition as researchers and collectors of specimens for the Museum's collections. The countries visited were Argentina, Colombia, Panama, Paraguay, and Venezuela. The photographs show countryside, town and village scenes, birds and mammals, and portraits of expedition members. Photographs were taken by Miller, Cherrie, and Col. Rondon. Copy photographs by Julius Kirchner and Compo Photo. Photographs are identified.

George K. Cherrie, field zoologist and curator. Cherrie explored and collected in South and Central America, independently and for institutions, including the American Museum of Natural History, the Field Museum, and the Brooklyn Institute of Arts and Sciences.
