Mexican field photographs, 1943-1944.

Photographs documenting the eruption of the Paricutin Volcano in Michoacán, Mexico and showing expedition members viewing the eruption, volcanic debris, and effects of the eruption on the area and its inhabitants. Scientists included Thomas D. Nicholson and William Frederick Foshag. Photographers were Frederick H. Pough, Life Magazine, Te Ata and George Clyde Fisher, and Otto Fisher. Photographs are identified.

Thomas Dominic Nicholson was with the American Museum of Natural History for 35 years, rising from planetarium lecturer, 1952-1953, to museum director, 1969-1989.
