James Alfred Ford Papers, 1940-1962.

1940-1962

Ford's papers referring to his archaeological excavations at prehistoric sites of the Lower Mississippi Alluvial Valley, Arkansas and other areas of the South, New Jersey, Alaska, Peru, and Poverty Point, Louisiana, the latter excavated with Junius Bird. His papers consist of field notes including photographs of the sites taken at ground level and from the air, correspondence, hand-drawn maps, charts of the sites, drafts of manuscripts, and illustrations used in publications.

Junius Bouton Bird (b. September 12, 1907, Rye, New York- d. April 2, Spuyten Duyvil, New York), was an American archaeologist who was appointed curator of South American Archaeology at the American Museum of Natural History in 1934.
