Lists of various collections of fossil vertebrates acquired through purchase or on expeditions provide dates, collectors' names, field numbers, and Museum numbers. Some correspondence and drawings of fossils may be included. Collecting localities are in the United States; other lists provide information about fossils from the Siwalik Collection from Punjab, India. Detailed field diary and lists for Tom Rich's Expedition to Como Bluffs, Wyoming, 1969. Of special interest are photocopies of correspondence with John Collins Warren pertaining to the famous Warren Mastodon skeleton and other Mastodon bones, 1831-1854, including sites and authentication; "Visitors to Warren's Mastodon Museum in Boston, 1869-1906;" and photographs of the Warren Mastodon site and accompanying notes, 1920.

John Collins Warren, surgeon and naturalist, was born in Boston in 1778, the son of Harvard physician John Warren and Abigail (Collins) Warren. He graduated from Harvard College in 1797 and began the study of medicine with his father. From 1799 to 1802 he studied medicine in Paris and London. When he returned, he went into practice with his father.
