Personnel lists providing biographical sketches, dates of employment and departmental assignments; many identified photographs; some correspondence concerning applications for work at the Museum or on expeditions; a listing of exhibition skeletons prepared, restored, and mounted between 1891 and 1940; and a history of the department's staff, 1891-1949. In addition, records maintained by Rachel Nichols concerning the department's Osborn Library consisting of its history and organization, correspondence regarding exchange of reprints, lists of lantern slides available, lists of storage arrangements and records made for storage during World War II, and material relating to exhibits. Nichols' files also include correspondence pertaining to dinosaur models, and notes about skeletons and restorations in the Museum.
