The photograph collection contains portraits of all of Metropolitan Life Insurance Company's presidents John Creedon, James R. Dow, Frederick C. Ecker, Haley Fiske, Gilbert W. Fitzhugh, John R. Hegeman, Joseph F. Knapp, Leroy A. Lincoln, Cecil J. North, Richard R. Shinn, Charles A. Siegfried, and Charles C. Taylor. Also, many photographs of employees, including groups of salesmen in selling districts throughout the U.S. and Canada, employee clubs and associations such as the Glee Club, Veterans' Association, Optimist Club, Honor Roll, One Hundred Thousand Dollar Club, and others. Interior and exterior views of the home office building on 23d Street and Madison Avenue in New York City and its surrounding neighborhood and interior and exterior office views from offices throughout the country are included. Photographs of Metropolitan Life nurses at work delivering babies and caring for women and children, ca.1910s-1940s; and the Metropolitan Life exhibit at the World's Fair, 1939-1940, in New York City, accompanied by a visitors' register.
