Russell Sage Foundation Collection on Social Welfare, [ca. 1880-1962].

Collection consists essentially of printed records of various societies and agencies which worked to improve the health, housing, recreation, and economic condition of the poor in major American cities in the period between 1880-1960. These records consist of annual reports, circulars, special reports, and random periodical publications from miscellaneous charitable organizations, humane societies, labor and trade unions, penal reform associations, women's and feminists' groups, hospitals and medical associations, and other social welfare organizations. These printed records are housed in City College's Special Collections and the Archives maintains approximately 5 cubic ft. of bibliographic subject files related to the records.
