Bulk of the collection pertains to locating a new facility for the operations of the Academy. Meetings formerly took place at the American Museum of Natural History; a permanent home was found in 1949. Records encompass a listing of property operated by the Academy, 1833-1837; and reports of the House Committee, 1945-1957; minutes and other reports pertaining to development and expansion of the Academy's facilities; and written and oral interviews prepared by an outside consulting firm concerning housing facilities of scientific and technical organizations in the United States and especially New York City, 1947. Also, minutes of the Buildings and Development Committee, 1963-1964; and some correspondence, 1971-1974.
