Logs for various types of ships including tugboats, fire boats, yachts, ferry boats, schooners, and steamships. Most sailed in the New York City area. Information includes records of ships' travels, weather and other environmental conditions, technical data, and work done on board. Also, two diaries of captains, M. Minthorne Thompson, 1849-1855; and James P. Barker, captain of America's last active commercial square-rigger, the TUSITALA, 1925-1932.
