Military papers collection, 1689-1876.

Collection consists of military papers concerning activities centered around New York City and includes military commissions appointing individuals to particular ranks, certificates, orders and acts, discharge certificates, and a proposal for the exchange of Revolutionary War prisoners, drawn up by James Robertson and Henry Clinton. Some papers pertain to George Clinton; one act was issued by King George II regarding raising forces for an expedition in Brooklyn, 1756.

Sir Henry Clinton was the son of Admiral George Clinton (c.1685-1761) and grandson of Sir Francis Fiennes Clinton, 6th Earl of Lincoln.
