Papers of many members of the de Lancey family of New York City including Edward F., James, John, John Peter, and Stephen de Lancey. Papers consist of bills and receipts; correspondence regarding personal, family, military and political concerns, deeds, will, and inventories; papers regarding notices for awards for runaway slaves and for the manumission of others; military commissions; and tickets for events. Several genealogical charts and notes are included in collection. Papers of James de Lancey, Lieutenant-Governor and Commander-in-Chief of New York primarily relate to military and political issues during the Revolutionary War. Papers of John de Lancey concern his involvement as a military commander.
