Manuscripts and papers, 1922-1957.

Papers, diaries, and manuscripts referring to expeditions Morden (sometimes accompanied by his wife, Irene) undertook to Africa and Asia for collecting purposes on behalf of the American Museum of Natural History. Included are journals Morden kept as the leader of the Morden-Clark Expedition across Asia from India through the Russian Pamirs and Chinese Turkestan to Siberia and China, 1926. Also, an account written after the expedition about the search for the Ovis poli ram, 1927. In addition, field notes of the Morden-Graves North Asiatic Expedition to Turkestan and the Amur River District in Siberia, 1929-1930. Other journals describe trips to Alaska, 1947 and 1949; another diary he maintained while on a collecting expedition to South Africa for the Museum lists expenses he incurred during the trip, 1947; and a diary Morden maintained while a Major in the United States Air Corps while in this country, describes his personal experiences, 1942.
