Sewer assessment lists, 1893-1914, 1894 (bulk)

Volume contains maps and tax assessment records concerning sewer construction or improvement in Long Island City. Information includes names of contractor, chief engineer, and city surveyor involved in project; description of geographic boundaries of each project; block and lot numbers of area assessed; names of owners of property assessed; amount of front footage of each lot assessed; and a map number which refers to map bound into each volume. Maps portray location and route of sewer lines in area assessed. Copies of Board of Estimate resolution and Commissioner of Sewers certification of completion of the work are attached to each volume.

Revisions to the Charter of the City of New York, effective January 1, 1990, abolished the Board of Estimate and redistributed its responsibilities among the Mayor, the Comptroller, the City Council, the Borough Presidents, the City Planning Commission, and Community Boards.
