Weeks family papers, 1823-1889.

Papers of James H. Weeks (ca. 1780-1879), his son William Jones Weeks (1821-1897), and his grandson Archibald C. Weeks (ca. 1850-1910). James H. Weeks was president of the Long Island Railroad and wood supplier, and his papers include financial documents and correspondence regarding fire damage to property by railroad engines, 1846-ca. 1854; minutes of Fireplace Church in Suffolk County, ca. 1828-1840; letters of introduction for Weeks' trip to West Indies, 1824-1825; bills and receipts for sales of wood, 1829-1830; and papers concerning roads that intersected property of Weeks family. Papers of William Jones Weeks include diaries describing events on his farm in Suffolk County and in nearby communities, 1851-1871; and orders issued to Weeks in his capacity as Town Superintendent of Common Schools in Brookhaven, concerning payment of teachers' salaries and bills for library purposes. Collection includes bills, receipts, and correspondence from William Jones Weeks' term as treasurer of St. Andrew's Episcopal Church in Yaphank. Diaries of Archibald C. Weeks discuss his studies at school, family life, and law practice, 1869-1889.
