Papers, [ca. 1930-1935]

Fulling's typescript guide, "A Guide to the Fructicetum," was written to interpret the NYBG's fructicetum to the public, and contains descriptions of the hardy wood shrubs, many of which were ornamental, found in the fructicetum. Maps of the fructicetum and a cover letter to Elmer Drew Merrill explaining the guide are included.

Elmer Drew Merrill was born in East Auburn, Maine in 1876 and died in 1956. He received his bachelor's degree from the University of Maine in 1898 and his master's in 1904. In 1902 he went to the Philippines where he remained for 21 years as professor of botany at the University of the Philippines and director of the Bureau of Science at Manila.
