Includes account books, advertisements, bills, broadsides, bonds, catalogs, contracts, deeds, diaries, lists, mortgages, patents, payrolls, permits, petitions, receipts, reports, and stocks. Of note are account books of the Great Western Turnpike Road Company, 1817-1820, of James Geddes, engineer on the Champlain Canal, 1820, and of William Jerome, engineer on the Oswego Canal, 1820-1826; business letters concerning salt industry, property damage caused by canals, boats, canal construction, and shipping; correspondence of Canal Commissioner's office, canal collectors, and engineers; personal correspondence concerning business, travel, and working on canals, including letters from A.J. Wood and William H. Roosa; diaries of George Bischof discussing work on the Erie Canal, 1887-1888, and of Albert A. Bartz on canal travel, 1906-1907; letters, maps, and clippings concerning the Chenango Canal Towpath, 1927-1964; contracts, receipts, estimates, and correspondence of John A. Dodge and E.B. Morgan concerning the Erie Canal enlargement, 1850's; and a sales booklet of photographs and drawings of Dr. Jermar's hydrostatic weirs, 1934.
