Collection consists of annual reports of the Brooklyn Institute of Arts and Sciences (BIAS) which includes Brooklyn Children's Museum, and of Brooklyn Children's Museum (BCM) when it became independent, 1888-1983; and publications including CHILDREN'S MUSEUM BULLETIN, published by BIAS, describing activities and scientific information, 1902-1905; MUSEUM NEWS, its successor, published by BIAS, Central Museum, and Children's Museum with articles and lecture schedule for BCM, 1905-1913; and its successor, CHILDREN'S MUSEUM NEWS, an illustrated periodical devoted to activities of the Children's Museum, focusing on natural history, geography, and history, 1913-1946. Other BCM publications include MUSEUM GAZETTE, written and published by children visitors to BCM, with drawings, interviews with staff, feature stories, club activities, and games, 1946-1963, and 1981-1984; SCHEDULE OF EVENTS, 1938-1965; BALLOON, a calendar of events of activities at BCM, which later expanded to include photographs of activities, 1978-1983; miscellaneous publications of short runs such as MUSEUM STAR, a club paper that reported on club activites and items of general Museum interest, 1936-1937; WONDERLAND OF SCIENCE, published by BCM's Science Club, 1946; GUILD VOICE, written and edited by children who visited the Museum, 1938-1939; publications of BCM's astronomy club, 1963-1966; promotional booklets; histories of BCM; and lists of lecture topics and loan materials.
