United States Army film production collection, 1942-1971.

Collection includes manuals and pamphlets about production of movie films and stills for army purposes, 1940's; indexes of armed forces motion pictures and related materials, 1944-1969; organizational manual for the Signal Corps Pictorial Service and the Army Pictorial Service, 1953-1961; articles about purposes and methods of using the film studio for army goals, 1944; some financial records, 1968-1969; and published reports on training film programs of the U.S. Navy and Signal Corps, 1945. Also includes photographic scenarios and legends for war films from the series, WHY WE FIGHT, such as BATTLE OF BRITAIN, and THE NAZIS STRIKE, 1942-1944; and the film script for INTRODUCTION TO ARMS and other films, 1958-1969. In-house publications are CLOSE-UP, 1945, and DAILY BULLETIN, 1951-1970, incomplete, both publications of the Signal Corps Pictorial Service; G.I. MOVIE WEEKLY, advertisement for movies, n.d.; and IN FOCUS, issued by the Army Pictorial Service, 1963-1969. Other items include some technical information regarding operation of projectors and other equipment; opaque projector transparencies with drawings and captions about various issues affecting the army such as cost consciousness education and reading of compasses and maps, n.d.; and five logbooks for maintenance and air conditioning, 1958-1961, and one logbook recording production and film processing, 1963.
