Black and white photographs primarily of features, shorts, and animated films produced at Astoria Studios, 1920-1983. Photographs are of famous scenes of movies and shots of their production, showing sets and their construction, filming and technical crews, and actors in preparation for filming. Some of the films represented by photographs include ANIMAL CRACKERS and COCOANUTS (with the Marx brothers), HONOR AMONG LOVERS, ONCE IN A BLUE MOON, THE TEN COMMANDMENTS, THE WIZ, and WOLFEN. Photographs of films produced by the U. S. Army designed to speed the training of millions of wartime inductees during World War II. Other photographs of famous personalities, some associated with Astoria Studios. Photographs of Astoria Motion Picture and Television Foundation include shots of the archives storage area, personnel, exhibits, special programs, and events. Photographs (1907-present) of the interior and exterior of studios including Astoria and Edison, and others in Long Island, New York State, and California. Negatives are associated with prints. Nearly all photographs are identified.
