Scrapbooks, 1967-1985.

Scrapbooks of news clippings containing advertisements for Open House, inviting students and parents to school, and other promotional advertisements for admissions. Other clippings of poems written by students, and news stories recording various events of the school such as the holiday bazaar and the spring auction, 1981-1985. Other clippings concern the film, CLOSE HARMONY. Two scrapbooks contain letters received from alumni for the 50th reunion, 1981 and 1984; and one scrapbook of correspondence containing letters of regret at not being able to attend the 100th anniversary celebration, 1967.

The Society of Friends (or 'Quakers') was formed by George Fox (1624-1691), a shoemaker from Nottingham. In the 1640s Fox travelled throughout England delivering sermons in which he argued that individuals could have direct access to God without the need for churches, priests or other aspects of the established Church.
