Collection consists mainly of correspondence received by Van Dyck while serving as Assistant Secretary of the Treasury of the United States in New York City, copies of resolutions, opinions, memoranda, bills, account sheets, orders to sell and buy, and letters. Most of the letters are from Hugh McCulloch, Secretary of the Treasury, 1865-1869. Also included are several items concerning the Seneca Indian Nation, for which Van Dyck served as a representative, ca. 1861, and the Elm Place Congregational Church of Brooklyn.
