Letter books, 1868-1880; letter copybooks, 1868-1884, including Custom House letters; other correspondence relating to his political, business, or family affairs; scrapbooks; news clippings and other ephemera; photographs; financial documents; and text of speeches Dutcher delivered on various professional, political or personal occasions. Large news clipping files, 1853-1909, include wide variety of clippings on political and social issues and Dutcher's religious affairs. Scrapbooks kept by Dutcher's wife and daughter are primarily social in nature, but also include personal articles about Silas Dutcher.
