This record group contains: board minutes; annual reports (1921, 1923-36, 1989-93); correspondence with the board; and biographical data. The photographs of the various Board of Trustees members were separated from the biographical data and placed with the Eastman Dental Center photograph collection. The early board minutes and correspondence contain the signatures of George Eastman, founder of the Kodak film company, William Bausch of the Bausch and Lomb optical company, and F. Harper Sibley of Sibley, Lindsay, and Curr, a popular Rochester department store.

George Eastman founded the Eastman Dental Center, then called the Rochester Dental Dispensary (RDD), in 1915. The RDD named Harvey J. Burkhart its first director in 1916. RDD established the School of Dental Hygiene in 1916, and one year later graduated its first class. The first RDD Building opened on East Main Street in 1917 to provide dental care for the children of Rochester, N.Y.
