Photograph album documenting the work of the Nicolai-Neppach Company, a custom millwork operation in Portland, Or., 1928-circa 1945. Images depict woodwork created by the company for Temple Beth Israel, the residence of Nelson Bowles, and other locations. There are also two letters included in the album from architects Morris H. Whitehouse and Herman Brookman that compliment the millwork and carving done by the company. Photographers include Columbia Commercial Studio and Ackroyd Photography, Inc., both of Portland, Or.

Morris H. Whitehouse (1878-1944) was a Portland, Or.-based architect who established and directed several architectural firms which designed hundreds of projects in the Pacific Northwest, 1907-1985. Whitehouse graduated from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (M.I.T.) in 1906 and studied at the American Academy in Rome, Italy.
