Helen Temple Cooke was born in Rutland, Vt., April 13, 1865. She was the daughter of Edmond Foster Cooke and Mary Ann Bardwell, born January 6, 1826. Cooke's grandfather Otis Bardwell was first married to Abigail Foster (1799-1835), who was the mother of all of his children, including Mary Ann Bardwell (Cooke's mother).
