Holograph letter written by Julio Cortázar. In the letter, Cortázar thanks Duke Univ. professor John Fein for sending him a copy of Fein's article about the Michelangelo Antonioni film, Blow-Up (1966). Antonioni based the film on a short story by Cortázar, entitled "Las babas del diablo." The envelope is addressed to "John M. Fein, Dept. of Romance Languages, Duke Ellington University, Durham, North Carolina..."

Julio Cortázar was born in Brussels, Belgium in 1914 of Argentine parents, but he grew up in Buenos Aries, Argentina. He was a writer, poet, and translator who authored over 25 novels and short story collections. Some of his best known works include: Rayuela, 62 modelo para armar, and Historias de cronopios y de famas. In 1951 he moved to Paris due to his opposition to the Perón regime in Argentina. John M. Fein was born in 1922. He received his B. A. (magna cum laude), M. A. and Ph.D. degrees from Harvard University. He began his career at Duke University in 1950 as Assistant Professor of Romance Languages, gradually earning a promotion to full Professor in 1963 and also served as Chair of his department.
