Opinion, for John G. Baker of N.Y., on the legality of title to lands owned by Richard S. Hackley in East Florida. The case rests on the validity of a grant from the King of Spain to the Duke of Alagon in 1817, and the subsequent Treaty of Amity between Spain and the U.S. in 1821 which formally ceded these lands.
